Delivering on MFB's Vision

MFB's vision is to be "the mortgage brokerage that our clients love working with, and our employees love working for."

The latest Academy intake reflects that ambition by creating accessible routes into the profession and providing apprentices with recognised qualifications, hands-on experience and mentoring from experienced industry experts.

Located in Kings Hill, West Malling, MFB have recruited across the local area, providing opportunities for recent A Level and college leavers who wish to pursue a career in financial services.

Francesca, one of our client relationship managers, was previously at University before joining the MFB Team, has commented about her experience so far:

What interested me about this role was the opportunity to build on the mortgage knowledge I first developed while studying the Level 3 Diploma in Financial Studies. Although I started university, I chose to pursue this apprenticeship because I realised I learn best through hands-on experience where I can apply what I'm studying for my CeMAP qualifications directly to my day-to-day work.

I've really enjoyed developing my knowledge and skills whilst working alongside experienced brokers, and my future aspiration is to complete my CeMAP qualifications and become a Buy-to-Let mortgage broker.”

Turning Values into Action

The Academy programme embodies MFB's core values of Expertise, People, Integrity and Clients.

By investing in structured training and professional development, MFB is creating a pipeline of future advisers, paraplanners and client service specialists who will help maintain the high standards of service for which the business is known.

With university fees at an all-time high, it’s imperative businesses provide hands-on learning opportunities to develop the next generation of talent in the community. Izabel, another of our client relationship managers, joined in February 2026 and commented:

I was interested in this role because it was an opportunity to learn and achieve a qualification (CMaP1) and use the knowledge I’m gaining in a practical setting.

What I enjoy most about this role is a chance to apply my learning, gain all the CMaP qualifications, and become a mortgage broker.”

The programme also reinforces MFB's belief that its people are its greatest asset, providing opportunities for individuals to build long-term careers in a regulated and growing sector.

Supporting the National Challenge Around NEETs

The announcement comes at a time when youth employment and skills development remain major national priorities.

According to the Department for Education, approximately 839,900 young people aged 16-24 in England were classified as NEET (Not in Education, Employment or Training) at the end of 2025, representing 13.3% of all young people in that age group – more than one in eight young people.

The Office for National Statistics has similarly highlighted that nearly one million young people across the UK were estimated to be NEET during 2025, underlining the continuing challenge facing employers, educators and policymakers. [ons.gov.uk],
Against this backdrop, MFB's Academy programme provides a practical and meaningful solution by creating high-quality apprenticeship opportunities that equip young people with professional skills, industry qualifications and clear career pathways.

By investing in apprenticeships, MFB is not only supporting individual careers but also contributing to wider economic growth, workforce development and social mobility.

Growing the Next Generation of Brokers

MFB has recognised its responsibility to help develop future industry talent. The company already states that it takes responsibility for "growing the next generation of brokers through our Broker Academy programme", and this latest intake represents another important milestone in that journey.

The Academy combines structured learning with real-world experience, enabling apprentices to develop the technical expertise, client service skills and professional confidence required to thrive in a fast-paced and evolving industry.

As the financial services sector faces ongoing skills shortages and increasing demand for specialist advice, programmes such as the MFB Academy play a vital role in ensuring the industry has access to talented, well-trained professionals for years to come.

Looking Ahead

The financial services industry is a core foundation of the UK economy and will continue to do so. With the school’s breaking up for summer holidays a fresh wave of talented young adults will enter the job market. Gavin Richardson, MD of MFB, commented on our future plans:

The recruitment of these six new apprentices reflects MFB's confidence in its future, its commitment to investing in people and its determination to create opportunities for the next generation.

By aligning business growth with education, skills development and social responsibility, MFB continues to demonstrate that commercial success and community impact can go hand in hand.

For MFB, this is more than a recruitment drive. It is a statement of intent – investing in people, creating careers and building the future of the mortgage profession, one apprentice at a time.”
